Why condensation is Lincoln's everyday damp problem

An ordinary household puts litres of water vapour into the air every day through cooking, showers, laundry and simply breathing. In winter that vapour finds the coldest surfaces in the house and condenses on them. Where it settles repeatedly, black mould follows.

An honest note on dehumidifiers

A dehumidifier helps manage symptoms and is useful while a cause is being fixed, but running one permanently is paying an electricity bill to avoid a diagnosis. If a room needs a machine emptying every day to stay dry, something about ventilation, heating or insulation needs attention, and fixing it is usually cheaper within a year or two.
